6/11/08 - General ReleaseBabson Hosts 27th Annual President's Cup Golf Tournament The Babson College Athletic Department hosted its 27th annual President's Cup Golf Tournament at the beautiful Wellesley Country Club this past Monday, and for the second straight year the event proved to be a record-setting fund-raising effort for the department. More than 140 golfers participated in this year's tournament, which featured 35 sponsors, including title sponsor Sodexo Food Services and Presidential sponsor Coclin Associates Inc. The event raised over $80,000 for the department - a record for the tournament. In addition, President Brian M. Barefoot '66 P'01 received the presitigious Jon T. Barry Award, which is presented each year to an alumus or friend of the College who best exemplifies the qualities of enthusiasm, presence, involvement, loyalty, sense of humor, sportsmanship, support, and volunteerism for Babson Athletics. 6/4/08 - W LacrosseMartignetti, Collins Earn All-America Honors Following the most successful season in program history, Babson College women's lacrosse senior Anita Martignetti and sophomore Anna Collins have been named to the IWLCA All-America Team. Martignetti closed out her magnificent career with a brilliant senior season in which she earned her fourth straight All-Conference First Team nod, her second consecutive NEWMAC Player of the Year award, her third straight All-New England First Team selection, and her second straight All-America award. One of the team's tri-captains, the veteran attack garnered national Second Team honors after totaling 50 goals and 21 assists for a team-high 71 points this spring while also adding 41 groundballs, 45 draw controls, and 28 caused turnovers. She recently graduated as Babson's all-time leader in career points (256) and assists (66) while ranking second in goals (190) and third in groundballs (141). One of the program's up-and-coming stars, Collins emerged as one of the nation's top players after a breakout season this spring. The talented midfielder received All-NEWMAC First Team, All-New England First Team, and All-America Third Team honors for the first time in her young career after tying for the team lead with 54 goals to go along with 14 assists for 68 total points. 6/3/08 - BaseballTahmoush, Delaney Chosen To Play In NEIBA Senior All-Star Game At Fenway Park The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association has announced the participants for its 2008 Senior All-Star Game at Fenway Park, and Babson College seniors Steve Tahmoush and senior Matt Delaney were both selected. The duo will join fellow Division II and III all-stars to take on the region's Division I all-stars on Saturday, June 14 at noon. The announcement caps off a brilliant campaign for Tahmoush and Delaney, who both received NEWMAC All-Conference First Team and NEIBA All-New England second team honors.
