BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's ice hockey program began the winter postseason on Saturday night and will be joined by six other programs this week as the championship season commences in earnest on Wednesday night.

After capturing a share of their third straight NEWMAC regular season championship, the Beavers (17-8) enter the conference tournament as the third seed and will host sixth-seeded Emerson (11-14) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Should the Green and White advance, it will face either second-seeded WPI (20-5) or seventh-seeded Coast Guard (13-12) in a semifinal at Smith on Saturday.

The Beavers begin competition at the four-day NEWMAC Championships on Thursday night at 6 p.m. inside the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool at MIT. Preliminaries will begin on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. with the finals set for 6 p.m. each night.

The defending Division III national champions are seeded second in the NEWMAC Tournament and will face third-seeded MIT (20-5) in a 3:30 p.m. semifinal on Saturday at Springfield. The Beavers (15-10) and 25th-ranked Engineers played a pair of overtime games in the regular season, both of which were won by the road team.

Following a thrilling 3-2 double-overtime victory over Skidmore on Saturday night, the third-seeded Beavers (15-8-3) travel to second-seeded Hobart (16-5-5) for an NEHC Tournament semifinal on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The Green and White went 1-0-2 against the nationally-ranked Statesmen during the regular season, which includes a win and a tie on the road.

The Green and White travels to West Mountain to take part in the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships on Saturday and Sunday in Queensbury, N.Y. The Green and White, which is making its 11th straight appearance on the men's side and fourth on the women's, can qualify for the USCSA nationals with a top-five finish this weekend.
