Jake Munick Named Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations at Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College Pamela P. and Brian M. Barefoot Director of Athletics and Athletics Advancement Mike Lynch announced the hiring of Jake Munick as the department's Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations on Thursday morning.

Munick comes to Babson from Dartmouth College, where he had most recently been promoted to an associate athletics director position in April 2018 after five years as an assistant athletics director. In addition to serving as the senior compliance administrator for the Big Green, he was responsible for overseeing the athletics equipment room and managing the department's equipment contract with Nike.

"I'm excited to add Jake to our senior staff," said Lynch. "Jake is a well-respected athletics administrator who is bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from his time at Dartmouth. He is a person that shares our values and is committed to helping our student-athletes, coaches and teams enjoy continued success."

Originally hired as an assistant athletics director at Dartmouth in the spring of 2013, Munick became the department's senior compliance administrator prior to the 2013-14 academic year. Over the last five years, he was responsible for creating and maintaining efficient monitoring practices, developing a robust rules education program, compiling and submitting NCAA annual reports, and overseeing the eligibility process of student-athletes. Additionally, Munick served as the on-site administrator for home contests for a number of different programs, including football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and the 2018 Ivy League Indoor Track & Field Championships.

"I am incredibly fortunate and excited to begin work serving the Babson community and building on the success athletics has sustained in recent years," commented Munick. "My sincerest thanks go to Mike Lynch for giving me this opportunity and entrusting me to add value to such an elite institution, impressive athletics department and exceptional student population. With first-rate facilities, experienced staff and the support to drive comprehensive excellence, it truly is an exciting time to be a part of this program. From day one on campus I could feel and see the energy that Babo is exuding right now, and I greatly look forward to seeing where all of this momentum will bring us."

Munick, who was a recipient of the 2018 National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) Rising Star Award, is a 2011 graduate of Widener University. He was a four-year member of the men's track & field squad and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.

Munick got his start in athletics administration at Temple University, serving as a graduate assistant for compliance and student services for two years beginning in August 2011. While at Temple, he earned his master's degree in sport and recreation management.
