BABSON PARK, Mass. - Senior Suzy Ward, senior Brandon Eigenberg, and sophomore Skylar Nipps were each honored by their respective conferences this week. Ward was named the NEWMAC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week after averaging 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.8 percent (14-26) from the field and 72.7 percent (8-11) from the line in two games. On Wednesday, she scored 20 of Babson's 59 points in an 80-59 loss to Wheaton. She then became the 11th player in Babson history to score 1,000 career points when she netted 16 in an 82-60 victory over Wellesley on Saturday. Ward now ranks ninth on Babson's all-time scoring list with 1,010 career points.
Eigenberg was named NEWMAC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week after leading Babson to two more conference victories this week. The Beavers senior co-captain averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting a spectacular 70.6 percent (12-17) from the field and 75.0 percent (6-8) from the line. He matched his career-high with 19 points on 6-for-10 shooting to go along with three steals in an 82-72 win at Wheaton, and then shot 6-for-7 for 13 points, five boards, five assists, three blocks, and four steals in a 73-63 win over Clark.
Nipps was selected as the ECAC East Goalie of the Week following an outstanding weekend in which he went 1-0-1 with a 0.96 GAA and a .957 save percentage. On Friday, the sophomore goaltender earned his first career shutout with a 22-save performance in a 5-0 win over Williams. He then recorded 22 more saves in a 2-2 overtime tie with 14th-ranked Middlebury on Saturday, giving him 44 saves on 46 shots in 125 total minutes in net this week.
