BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College Athletics Department has announced that longtime staff member Andy Dutton has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director of Facilities & Recreation. In addition to continuing his oversight of the Webster Center and the department's outdoor facilities, Dutton will now manage the Babson Skating Center in this new role.
Originally coming to Babson as an intern from the Master's program at Springfield College in the fall of 1990, Dutton joined the full time staff as the Equipment Room and Building Manager in the winter of 1991. Since that time, he has served a number of different roles in the department, including a three-year stint as Sports Information Director and a six-year run as head coach of the softball program. He took over as Facilities Manager in August of 1996, and since then has also served as Coordinator of Intramurals and Recreation.
"Andy is as loyal and conscientious a person as you'll find in college athletics," says Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur. "He is an incredibly capable athletics administrator who has served Babson College for nearly two decades. This promotion is an expression of my gratitude for his hard work and dedication to our department."
"New challenges and opportunities come with this position," Dutton says. "I'm excited about the integratation of the ice rink with the rest of our athletics facilities. It's going to help create a more closely knit community and continue our mission of providing quality athletic experiences."
