BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Over the next week, the Babson College field hockey and volleyball teams will both host special events in order to raise money as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The field hockey squad will host its "Play 4 The Cure" event during its home game against Mount Holyoke College on Saturday, October 18, at 1 p.m. The women's volleyball team will then host MIT on Tuesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. as part of the Side-Out Foundation's national "Dig Pink" initiative. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to both contests while supporting breast cancer awareness in a variety of ways.
At Saturday's field hockey game, anyone who makes a donation of any amount will receive a free pink "Beaver Nation - Play 4 The Cure" tee-shirt, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Sudexo food services will also be on hand to sell concessions at the event.
At Tuesday's volleyball match, special-edition pink "Beaver Nation - Dig Pink" tee-shirts will be sold for $5 to students and $10 for non-students will all proceeds benefitting the Side-Out Foundation. Additional donations will also be accepted at the event, while fans who cannot attend the match but still wish to give can do so on the Side-Out Foundation's website at http://www.sideoutvolleyball.org/mainevent/minievent/BabsonCo/.
In addition to the special edition pink tees, green long-sleeve and short-sleeve Beaver Nation tee-shirts will be available for purchase at both the field hockey and volleyball events.
