Women Come In Sixth In Presidents Cup Standings

BOSTON—Following another strong year across all three seasons, the Babson College women finished sixth in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Presidents Cup standings.

The Presidents Cup is an all-sports award presented to the top overall men’s and women’s programs in the conference and is determined using a weighted points system based on the order of finish during both the regular season and championship play.

The Beavers, who averaged 6.28 points per sport, finished just behind fifth-place Coast Guard Academy. Wellesley College edged out MIT to win its first Presidents Cup, while Wheaton College and Springfield College finished third and fourth, respectively.

The women’s lacrosse team reached the championship game for the eighth consecutive year and the volleyball squad came in third in the regular season, equaling its best league-finish since 1993. The women’s basketball, field hockey, soccer and tennis programs all reached the semifinal round of their respective league tournaments.
