| Overview
Govoni Field is renowned throughout New England as one of the
finest baseball facilities in the region. Named after longtime
assistant coach and marketing professor Norman Govoni and his wife
Terry, the field is home to the highly successful Babson baseball
team.
Playing Surface
This beautifully manicured diamond is a fully-enclosed facility
with an impeccable natural grass surface and an infield consisting
of red clay. The outfield dimensions are 331' down the left field
line, 372' to the left field alley, 388' to straightaway center,
324' to the right field alley, and 323' down the right field
line.
Additional Features
Govoni Field also includes a number of features that make it a
favorite place to both watch and play baseball. These features
include:
- Two 40-foot long dugouts with a permanent bench, bat and helmet
racks, a glove box, and a rubberized floor
- Double-barrel bullpens located down each foul line
- A 12-foot warning track in the outfield
- Bleacher seating along both baselines and behind home plate,
with a total seating capacity of 812
- Two batting cages - a portable cage for on-field use and a
permanent cage adjacent to the field on the third-base side
- A two-story press box located behind the home dugout on the
third base side, featuring scoreboard and sound system controls on
the upper level and multiple storage units on the lower level. The
press box seats up to 12 people and is accessible to opposing
sports information and media personnel upon request.
- A magnificent electronic LED nine-inning style scoreboard
located beyond the left field wall
- A state-of-the-art sound system with multiple speakers directed
down each foul line
- A 120' by 120' tarpaulin that protects the infield against
inclement weather
Directions &
Parking
Govoni Field is located just off Rt. 135 next to the Olin School
of Engineering.
From the Babson campus:
- Take a left of out the main gate onto Forest Street
- Take a left at the four-way stop at the intersection of Forest
and Wellesley Avenue
- At the next stop sign, turn left at the rotary (3/4 of the way
around) onto 135 East
- Proceed approximately 1/2 mile and turn left into the Olin
College of Engineering entrance
- If you reach a stop light, you have gone too far
Parking
There are two parking lots available at Govoni Field. The first
is located behind the first base dugout and is on your left as you
approach the field. The second can be reached by following the
service road around the outfield wall. The lot is located beyond
the left field wall in foul territory.
