| Overview
Prior to the construction of MacDowell (AstroTurf) Field in
2000, nearby Isbrandtsen Field was the home of the Babson field
hockey team. This natural grass field, which covers over 10,000
square yards, now serves as a practice site for many of Babson's
varsity teams, including field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse,
and men's and women's soccer. The field is named after men's soccer
alumnus Erik "Izzy" Isbrandtsen '94, who passed away in the tragic
World Trade Center attacks of September 11, 2001. In addition to
Babson's varsity teams, Isbrandtsen Field is also available to
other members of the Babson community, including club and
intramural teams.
Erik "Izzy" Isbrandtsen
Dedicated in the fall of 2001, Isbrandtsen Field features a
monument in honor of Erik Isbrandtsen '94. The inscription on the
plaque reads:
"Giving his all, all the time"
Member of the Class of 1994 and the Varsity Soccer Team lost
tragically in the attacks on the World Trade Center on September
11, 2001. Family and friends will remember how he lived rather than
how he was lost. Whether on the playing fields, in the classroom,
at the workplace or out on the town, "Izzy gave it his
all".
