Track & Field Wins March Madness Brian Barefoot Athletics Challenge

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's track & field program emerged victorious during what turned out to be a wildly successful March Madness Brian Barefoot Athletics Challenge, as the department saw a staggering 1,380 gifts totaling $109,000.

With an impressive 67% overall participation rate, track & field captured the top spot while staking claim to $5,000 for their program.  The battle for second place was a tight race until the very end, as field hockey's 47% clip edged last year's champion softball's 46%.  Field hockey collected $3,000 in prizes, while softball won $2,000.

Athletics alone helped the College raise the overall undergraduate giving participation rate almost four percentage points in only four weeks.  62% of Babson's current student-athletes participated in the competition and seven of the programs had 100% participation.
