Men's Skiing Places Fifth; Women Ninth In Slalom Races At Cranmore

FRIDAY'S RESULTS | SATURDAY'S RESULTS
NORTH CONWAY, N.H. -- The Babson College ski teams competed in a pair of slalom races at the UConn Carnival at Mount Cranmore on Friday and Saturday. The men's team finished fifth overall in both events, while the women placed ninth in each race.
With only two healthy skiers racing, the women's team recorded back-to-back ninth-place finishes despite solid performances on both days. On Friday, junior captain Alyssa Sullivan placed 22nd overall, while fellow junior captain Alexis Burton followed closely in 25th. Then on Saturday, Burton placed 32nd overall, with Sullivan coming in 52nd.
For the Babson men, junior Keith Vella, senior captain Connor Lemenze, and first-year Ricky Beneduci posted scoring performances on Friday. Vella came in 22nd, Lemenze placed 24th, and Beneduci placed 36th. They were followed by first-year Scott Kern in 42nd place, junior Enrico Palmerino in 44th, junior Max Winthrop in 52nd, senior captain Chris Jacobs in 60th, and first-year Ryan Drake in 63rd.
Saturday saw the men's team post two top-20 finishes, highlighted by a career-best 10th place performance from Winthrop. The junior's top collegiate effort came exactly one week after an 11th-place showing in the GS at Sunapee last Saturday. Joining Winthrop in the top 20 at Cranmore was Vella, who moved up to 17th overall. Lemenze again cracked the Beavers' top three with a finish of 29th, with first-year Zach Breakstone and Beneduci following in 34th and 35th, respectively. Rounding out the Beavers' lineup were Kern in 46th, Jacobs in 50th, Palmerino in 63rd, and Drake in 66th.
