Program History

The Babson men's and women's ski programs have been in existence for 30 years. During that time, the men's team has advanced to the regionals 15 times, won six division titles, made USCSA national appearances in 1989, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009, and had an NCAA qualifier in 1999. The women's squad has qualified for the regionals on 11 occasions, won seven division titles, and made appearances in the nationals in 1991, 1996, and 1997. In addition, the program has produced NCAA National qualifier Chad Isaacs '99, five-time All-American Michele Steinrotter '98, and five-time All-American Carson Thurber '06, who were each honored as Babson's Athletes of the Year during their respective careers.

The Beavers have continued to dominate in recent years, as the men's team has qualified for regionals in seven of the last eight seasons. After narrowly missing a bid to nationals in 2003 and 2004, Babson finally advanced to the USCSA Championships in 2005, where they finished ninth overall. The Beavers then earned their second straight bid to nationals in 2006, where they placed sixth in the country -- the best finish in program history, before heading back to nationals and placing 10th overall in 2008. This past winter (2009), Babson recorded its best regional finish ever by taking second place at the ECSC Championships and then followed that up by matching its best finish of sixth at the USCSA Championships - the program's fourth national bid in the last five years.
