  • Capalbo, Track and Field Teams Garner USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

    Babson College sophomore Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) and her track and field teammates capped off their remarkable 2013 season with another huge honor this week, as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its annual Division III All-Academic awards on Tuesday. Both the Babson men and women once again garnered team honors, while Capalbo became the program's first athlete in six years to receive individual All-Academic recognition.

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—After becoming just the second female in the history of the cross country program to earn All-New England honors in the fall, Babson College Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) capped her historic sophomore season by earning a bid to the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships to compete in the 1500 meter run on May 23 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

    LA CROSSE, Wis.—Sophomore standout Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) made her NCAA Division IIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships debut on Thursday afternoon after earning a spot in the 1500 meter run. One of just 22 runners to earn a spot in the event, Capalbo finished in a time of 4:41.73 at Roger Harring Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, falling just short of a berth in Saturday’s finals.

    Babson College first-year Dominic Esposito completed the program's first-ever decathlon performance with a magnificent day on Thursday, as he placed 10th overall and fifth among Division III competitors at the Holy Cross Decathlon. In addition to his 10th-place effort and program-record 5,547 points, he also qualified for the NCAA Division III New England Championships in the event.
