BOSTON, Mass. - The Babson College cross country team competed in the New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Saturday hosted by MIT. The men finished sixth overall and the women ninth. First years Kyle Fitzpatrick (Toledo, Ohio) and Michelle Black (San Diego, Calif.) led the way once again for their respective teams. Fitzpatrick finished 26th out of 118 runners on the men's side and Black finished 42nd out of 112 runners for the women.
Fitzpatrick posted the team's top finish for the fourth time this season in his first NEWMAC Championship, placing 26th with a time of 26:59.65. Teammate Mike Smith (Brockton, Mass.) followed with a time of 27:47.06 which placed him 42nd. Rounding out the top three runners for Babson was Greg Keshian (North Andover, Mass.) who placed 51st in 28:21.36. Also performing well for the Beavers were sophomores Mikita Kourtchikov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Jordan Bray (Henderson, Nev.) who both ended the day with new personal records. Kourtchikov posted a time of 29:33.41 and Bray finished in 33:00.89.
For the women, Black finished first for the beavers for the fifth time this season with a time of 20:43.89 placing her at 42nd. Junior Kim Luu (Skokie, Ill.) and Kristen Lang (Kennebunk, Maine) were the other top runners for Babson. Luu finished 73rd with a time of 22:32.08 and Lang placed 82nd posting a time of 22:59.42
