Margel, Black Pace Cross Country At Gordon Invitational


RESULTS

WENHAM, Mass. -- First-year Charlotte Margel and sophomore Michelle Black both earned All-Invitational honors as they led the Babson College women's cross country team to a tremendous ninth-place finish out of 27 squads at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on Saturday.

Margel finished 10th overall out of 290 runners with a time of 19:50, while Black was close behind in 14th with a time of 19:59. Senior Vanessa Lovering added a 56th-place effort of 21:19, senior captain Kristen Lang came in 101st in 22:14, sophomore Colleen Carr finished 113th in 22:32, and sophomore captain Emiley McCole placed 167th in 24:04.

First-year Jake Williams ran a 28:34 to place 29th out of 221 competitors in the men's race, as Babson finished 13th out of 24 scoring teams. Fellow freshman Chris Pierce added an 89th-place finish with a personal best time of 30:50, while sophomore Justin Bowman came in 98th in 31:16. Junior captain Jordan Bray was close behind in 108th in 31:35, and first-year Mark Irwin rounded out the men's lineup with 136th-place finish in 33:11.
