WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Babson College cross country teams participated in a pair of races at the Williams College Invitational on Saturday. The men's team placed 14th out of 18 squads in their half of the meet, while the women tied for 14th out of 19 competing schools in a 6k run.
Competing on the same course as last year's ECAC Championships, sophomore Charlotte Margel cut more than two and a half minutes off her previous best 6k run, as she placed 49th overall with a time of 24:06. It was the sixth fastest 6k run in Babson women's cross country history. She was followed by rookie Natalie Cullings, who finished 75th with a time of 24:46 - the 14th fastest time in program history.
Junior Michelle Black came in 138th with a time of 26:13, while first-years Imani Smith (27:20) and Michelle Chin (27:25) placed 167th and 169th, respectively, in their first collegiate 6k competitions.
Leading Babson on the men's side of the meet was senior Kyle Fitzpatrick, who placed 64th overall with a time of 27:54. First-year Nathan Kolman had the team's second-best finish at 93rd in a time of 28:31, followed by junior Andrew Oram in 125th in 29:14 and junior Mike Smith in 129th in 29:17. Also breaking the 30-minute mark for the Beavers were first-years AJ Skains (29:39) and Will Hallock (29:49), who placed 148th and 150th, respectively.
