    The Babson College women's and men's cross country teams were once again rewarded for their sterling efforts in the classroom this week, as both squads received All-Academic honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In addition, sophomore star Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) became just the seventh female in program history and the 20th person overall to garner individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

    The Babson College cross country teams enjoyed an historic day at the 2012 Division III New England Championships hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park on Saturday, as the Beavers saw two individuals garner All-Region honors for the first time in program history. Sophomore captain Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) received All-New England honors from both the NCAA and the USTFCCCA for the women, who placed 24th out of 51 scoring teams, while sophomore Mark Gulesian (Miami, Fla.) received the same distinction for the men, who took 17th out of 50 scoring squads.

Highlighting the day were the Babson men, who recorded their third team victory of the season, and first-year Marina Capalbo, who added her third individual victory of the year in leading the women to an 11th-place finish.

    The Babson College cross country teams got their first look at the site of this year's NCAA Division III New England Championship meet on Saturday, as the Beavers competed at Stanley Park as part of the 17th annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State. The Babson men placed seventh out of 40 scoring teams at the highly-competitive event, while the women placed 26th out of 43 scoring squads.

    The Babson College men's cross country team posted its second victory of the season at the Elms College Blazer Invitaitonal at Chicopee Memorial State Park on Saturday, as the Beavers finished first out of nine scoring teams while taking four of the top five individual spots. Meanwhile, the Beaver women placed two harriers in the top five of their race, resulting in a fourth-place finish out of 13 scoring squads.
  • Gulesian, Capablo Post Second Fastest Times in Babson History at UMD Cross Country Invitational

    Super sophomores Mark Gulesian (Miami, Fla.) and Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) each missed their respective program records by mere seconds on Saturday, as each turned in career-best performances at the UMass-Dartmouth Shriners Cross-Country Invitational. The men's team finished 13th out of 39 scoring squads at the event, while the short-handed Babson women posted a 29th-place effort while continuing to compete without a slew of injured runners.

    The Babson College men's cross country team competed in their first 8k race of the season on Saturday, as the Beavers finished fourth out of 10 scoring schools at the Smith Invitational. The short-handed women's team also ran at the event, placing 12th out of 14 squads while running only five individuals in their traditional 5k race format.

    The Babson College cross country teams opened their 2012 campaigns with stellar showings at the Mayflower Kickoff at New England College on Friday afternoon. The men's squad won the event for the second straight season, placing five athletes on the All-Invitational Team along the way, while the women took third overall and had two runners earn All-Invitational honors. In addition, the Beavers boasted the individual winner in each race, with sophomore Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) finished first in the women's race and sophomore Mark Gulesian (Miami, Fla.) claiming victory in the men's competition.
