Baseball Suffers First Loss, 15-10, To Plattsburgh State

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Babson College baseball team lost for the first time this season on Sunday, as the Beavers dropped a 15-10 decision to Plattsburgh State on day three of their spring break trip to Florida. With the loss, Babson dropped to 3-1 on the year, while the Cardinals improved to 5-1.

The Beavers plated four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-3 lead, but Plattsburgh State answered with five runs in the fourth to move in front for good. The Cardinals eventually built a 15-4 lead before Babson plated six runs in the bottom of the ninth for the 15-10 final.

First-year Trevor MacNeill (Hanover, Mass.) took the loss on the mound for the Beavers, allowing five earned runs on seven hits while striking out five in three innings of work. A total of six pitchers appeared in the loss for Babson, with sophomore Jeff Browne (Vorhees, N.J.) turning in the best performance with five strikeouts over two hitless innings.

Offensively, the Beavers were led by junior Peter O'Toole (Salem, Mass.), who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, senior captain Jeff Wojnar (Bellaire, Texas), who went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, and two RBIs, and first-year Sean Cleary, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Sophomore Billy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) also went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and first-year Travis Jonasson (Needham, Mass.) added a double and two RBIs.
