Baseball Topples Plattsburgh State, 13-4

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Babson College baseball team avenged Sunday's loss to Plattsburgh State on Tuesday, as the Beavers defeated the Cardinals, 13-4. With the win, Babson improved to 4-2 with one game remaining on its spring break trip to Florida.

Senior Matt Barton (Washingtonville, N.Y.) earned his first win of the season for the Beavers, going six innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits. Fellow senior Pete Bizinkauskas (Duxbury, Mass.) was credited with his first save after throwing three scoreless innings of relief.

Babson pounded out 20 hits on offense, led by three hits apiece from sophomore Billy Besinger (Milton, Mass.), senior captain Bryan Evans (Bellaire, Texas), first-year Travis Jonasson (Needham, Mass.), and first-year Billy Miller (Sagamore Beach, Mass.). Miller also scored twice and drove in four runs, while first-year Stephen Albano added two hits, including a triple, two runs, and three driven in. Evans and sophomore Andrew Aizenstadt (Norwell, Mass.) each knocked in a pair, and Jonasson scored three times.

The Beavers broke the game open in the fourth, snapping a 2-2 tie with four runs on four hits. Albano had the biggest hit of the inning - a three-run triple - while Evans added an RBI single. Babson then added another run in the sixth, one in the eighth, and five in the ninth to finish off the 13-4 rout.
