Baseball Caps Off Stellar Week With 11-6 Win Over Lakeland

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Babson College baseball team wrapped up its very successful spring break trip to Florida with an 11-6 victory over Lakeland College on Wednesday morning. With the win, the Beavers return home with a record of 5-2, while the Muskies fell to 1-5.
First-year Jeff Buress (Cumberland, R.I.) picked up the win on the mound for Babson - the first victory of his collegiate career. The rookie hurler went the first five innings, allowing four runs on six hits, walking three and striking out one. Sophomore Jeff Browne (Vorhees, N.J.) added three scoreless innings of one-hit relief, striking out one, and sophomore Andrew Aizenstadt (Norwell, Mass.) finished up, allowing two runs in the ninth.
Sophomore Billy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) capped off a magnificent southern trip with three more hits on Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. In the Beavers' first seven games, the second-year infielder batted .600 with 18 hits in 30 at-bats, including three doubles, to go with eight runs scored and seven RBIs.
Joining Besinger with three hits was senior captain Bryan Evans (Bellaire, Texas), who went 3-for-5 with a run and three driven in. Junior Peter O'Toole (Salem, Mass.) added two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, while first-years Billy Miller (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) and Stephen Albano (Amherst, N.H.) each recorded two hits.
Also on Wednesday, it was announced that Babson's home opener against Rochester scheduled for Friday has been postponed. The Beaver will now resume their schedule with a conference doubleheader at Coast Guard on Saturday before hosting a home-opening doubleheader against Rochester beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
