Curry Overpowers Baseball, 10-3

MILTON, Mass. - The Babson College baseball team suffered a 10-3 loss at Curry College on Friday, snapping the Beavers' brief two-game win streak. Senior James Geosits (Wyomissing, Pa.) belted a pair of three-run homers in the win for the Colonels (21-3), while first-year Travis Jonasson (Needham, Mass.) hit his team-high sixth home run of the season for Babson (13-12).
Curry never trailed in the contest, as Geosits hit a three-run shot in the first. Jonasson launched a solo shot to get Babson on the board in the top of the second, but Geosits punctuated a five-run outburst in the second with another three-run blast as the Colonels built a commanding 8-1 advantage en route to the 10-3 win.
Along with his sixth round-tripper of the year, Jonasson also drove in another run with the single in the sixth. The rookie first baseman has now recorded at least one RBI in seven straight games and 10 of the Beavers' last 12 contests. He currently leads the team with 28 RBIs on the season. Senior co-captain Bryan Evans (Bellaire, Texas) also drove in a run with a fielder's choice for the Beavers - his 27th of the year.
First-year Jeff Buress (Cumberland, R.I.) took the loss after giving up eight of his nine runs in the first two innings, although the rookie righthander settled down nicely to blank Curry for the next four frames. Sophomore Mike Hughes (Middleboro, Mass.) earned the win for the Colonels, giving up three runs on five hits over eight innings.
