Baseball Seeded Eighth In NCAA Tournament New England Regional

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The NCAA announced its official 2009 Division III Baseball Tournament field on Monday, and Babson College has been seeded eighth in the New England Regional at Eastern Connecticut State University. The Beavers will open the eight-team double-elimination bracket by facing the host Warriors on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.
General admission tickets are $5 per day, $3 for students with a valid ID and senior citizens, and children under the age of 5 will be admitted free. A limited number of tournament passes will be sold on the first day of competition. Adult passes are $15 and students and senior citizens are $10.
This is the Beavers' second NCAA Tournament appearance, with the first coming in 2004. Babson earned a spot in this year's field by winning its second New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship two weeks ago.
Joining Babson and top-seeded Eastern Connecticut State in the New England Regional will be second-seed and two-time national champion University of Southern Maine (35-7), third seed and defending national champion Trinity College (29-5), fourth-seeded WPI (28-11), fifth-seeded Suffolk University (30-9), sixth-seeded Westfield State College (23-15), and seventh-seeded Husson University (31-12).
Leading Babson into the tournament will be sophomore hurler Andrew Aizenstadt (7-1-1, 2.08), who earned his second First Team All-Conference selection last week, senior co-captain Bryan Evans (.344), who received All-NEWMAC Second Team honors, and sophomore second baseman Billy Besinger (.413), who also received Second Team accolades.
