Baseball Picked to Repeat in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Coming off its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title since 2011 last spring, the Babson College baseball team was picked to repeat when the league released its preseason coaches' poll on Tuesday morning.

The Beavers picked up five first-place votes to edge out Wheaton College, which came in second with three first-place votes. MIT came in third, while WPI and Clark University finished fourth and fifth in the poll, respectively.

Under the direction of 16th-year head coach Matt Noone, Babson set a school record for wins and finished with an overall mark of 29-15 last season. The Green and White swept through the NEWMAC Tournament and defeated four nationally-ranked foes on its way to reaching the Harwich regional final in its first NCAA appearance since 2009.

The Beavers open the 2018 campaign against Otterbein in Punta Gorda, Fla., on March 2.
