  • Pierrakos Inducted Into New England Basketball Hall of Fame

    WORCESTER, Mass.— Jim Pierrakos ’92, a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) first team All-America selection in 1991-92, became the first player in the history of the Babson College men’s basketball program to be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame, going in as part of the Class of 2013 in a ceremony held at the DCU Center on Saturday.

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Matt Palazini (Franklin, Mass.) scored a game-high 21 points, pacing four different players in double-figures, and visiting Babson College knocked down 12 three-point field goals in a 78-70 upset of tenth-ranked Amherst College, snapping the Lord Jeffs 35-game home winning streak on December 6, 2012.

  • Babson Honors Class of 2013 at 32nd Annual Senior Athletics Awards Banquet

    The Babson College Athletics Department held its 32nd Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night where a total of eight individuals received honors. Women's basketball All-American Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.) and men's soccer All-American Eric Anderson (Scituate, Mass.) were named Female and Male Athletes of the Class, while women's volleyball captain Kathleen Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) received the Conlon Award, presented for the first time in honor of both Michael Conlon '96 and Michelle Conlon '94. Rounding out the list of senior award winners were softball star Catie Funk (Scarborough, Maine) and baseball slugger Chris Kucher (Westwood, Mass.), who were honored as the Scholar-Athletes of the Class. In addition to the senior awards, men's basketball first-year Travis Sheldon (Woodstock, N.Y.) received the Colin "Chip" Brown Award, women's soccer and lacrosse first-year Kristina Simonson (Easton, Mass.) was honored as the winner of the Lori Vengrow Award, and Athletics Communications Director Chris Buck received the Paul C. Staake Award for outstanding contributions to Babson Athletics.
  • Wickey Highlights NEWMAC Men's Basketball Postseason Honors

    Following a season in which he led the team in both scoring and rebounding sophomore John Wickey (Manchester, N.H.) was selected to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Basketball All-Conference First Team on Tuesday. Wickey earned the program’s first all-conference selection since 2011 and its first First Team selection since Kyle McDonald in 2008. In addition, junior Kenny Ross (Furlong, Pa.) and sophomore Adam Farina (Wellesley, Mass.) were named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team for their efforts in the classroom.

With the win, the Beavers are now 12-12 overall and 4-7 in NEWMAC play with one regular season game remaining.
