THE SERIES: Babson holds a 40-24 in the all-time series dating back to the teams' first meeting in 1974. WPI has owned a decided edge recently, though, having won the last five meetings and nine of the last 11 contests overall.
LAST MEETING: After escaping with a 73-71 win in Babson Park on January 7, 2012, the Engineers completed the season sweep with a 70-49 win on February 1, 2012 in Worcester. WPI held the Beavers to just 32.7 percent shooting while forcing 19 turnovers in the win.
LAST BABSON WIN: Current senior Russell Braithwaite exploded for 21 points and Matt Zoia '11 knocked down four three-pointers and had 19 points as the Green and White picked up a 72-58 win on January 27, 2010 in Babson Park.
SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS: No. 14 WPI (12-0) are off to the best start in school history and are coming off a 58-45 win at St. Joseph's (Maine) on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Ryan Kolb paced four Engineers in double figures with 13 points, while junior Marco Coppola nad first-year Zach Karalis each added 11 points, and sophomore Domenick Mastascusa chipped in with 10. WPI, which built a 33-19 halftime lead, held the Monks to just 36 percent shooting from the field and forced 21 turnovers.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS: Babson (8-4) earned its sixth win in the last seven outings with a 58-46 triumph at Framingham State on Wednesday night. Junior Matt Palazini buried six of the Beavers' 12 three-point field goals on the way to a game-high 20 points, while sophomore John Wickey chipped in with 13 points and six rebounds for the Green and White. Babson held the Rams to just 37.3 percent from the field and forced 22 turnovers to stay unbeaten on the road.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Babson's last win at WPI was a 66-65 overtime victory on February 10, 2004.
