WESTWOOD, Mass.—Two members of the Babson College men's basketball team were honored for their work in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its Academic All-Conference team on Tuesday.
Lowry, who won the NCAA Elite 90 award by virtue of having the top grade-point average amont last year's Division III Final Four participants, averaged 2.8 points, 5.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds in six starts this winter before suffering a season-ending injury at Albertus Magnus on November 29. In 64 career games, including 18 starts, he averaged 1.7 points and 2.0 assists to go along with a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
A graduate transfer from Cleveland State University, Hasbargen has averaged 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 47.1 percent in 12 games this year. He put up 11.0 points and 4.7 boards in six starts to begin the year before suffering an injury at Albertus Magnus.
Academic all-conference honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2017 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at his institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Babson (14-9, 9-3 NEWMAC) begins the final week of the regular at Emerson on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
