Kelley Forces OT with Buzzer-Beating Three-Pointer, Leads Men's Basketball to Victory at Nationally-Ranked MIT

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Brian Kelley (Potomac, Md.) buried a three-pointer from the top of the key with one second left in regulation and then scored seven of his 10 points in overtime as the Babson College men's basketball team toppled then-eighth-ranked MIT, 84-71, on January 31 in Cambridge.

Kelley caught an inbounds pass from sophomore Shyheim Ulrickson (Topsham, Maine), took a dribble to his left and knocked down his first field goal of the game to pull the Beavers even at 67-67 with one tick remaining. Kelley got a steal and made 1-of-2 free throws on the first possession of the extra session, and then connected on a pair of three-pointers as part of a 12-0 run that gave Babson an 82-69 lead with less than a minute to go in the contest.

Senior Bradley Jacks (Fort Washington, Md.) tied for game-high honors with 24 points for the Beavers, who had six players reach double figures in scoring on the night. The Green and White closed the first half with a 20-9 run and built a 12-point lead less than four minutes into the second half before the Engineers followed with a 13-0 run to go back in front with 11:38 to go.

The deficit was 67-62 with 59 seconds remaining, but first-year Andrew Jaworski (Tolland, Conn.) made a pair of free throws and Babson got the ball back following a missed jumper by MIT with 19 seconds left setting up Kelley's heroics.

The Beavers' victory also avenged an 80-78 OT loss to the Engineers just 11 days earlier inside Staake Gymnasium.
