WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College junior Frank Oftring (North Attleboro, Mass.) was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Oftring averaged 10.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals as the Beavers remained unbeaten in league play with a pair of wins. He recorded his first double-double of the year with 12 points and a career-high 15 boards in Wednesday's 85-76 victory at Coast Guard. On Saturday, Oftring finished with nine points, three boards, two blocks and one steal in 23 minutes of action as the Green and White defeated Clark, 81-59.
Oftring is averaging 13.2 points on 56 percent shooting to go along with team highs of 7.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocked shots. He ranks third in the league in blocks, fourth in field goal percentage and seventh in rebounds.
Babson (11-4, 4-0 NEWMAC), which is riding a season-high five game winning streak, returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Wheaton at 7 p.m.
