WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College senior Frank Oftring (North Attleboro, Mass.) was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Oftring recorded three straight double-doubles and averaged 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor in three wins for the Beavers. He opened the week by going 12-of-17 from the floor and knocking down five three-pointers for a career-high 30 points in an 87-82 victory over 14th-ranked Amherst.
Despite attempting just one first half shot on Saturday, Oftring finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in an 81-75 win at Salem State. He then capped the week with 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting to go along with 10 boards and four assists to claim most valuable player honors as Babson defeated Tufts, 99-85, to claim its first New England Big 4 Challenge title since 2016 on Sunday.
Oftring leads the team in both scoring and rebounding and is averaging 16.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 blocks while shooting 56.9 percent over the first nine games this season for the Beavers. His four double-doubles also rank second in the NEWMAC.
Babson, which is off to a 9-0 start for just the second time in program history, will return to action on December 30 when it faces Eastern Connecticut State to open the Trinity Holiday Invitational at 7 p.m. in Hartford, Conn.
