Babson Golf To Join New England Collegiate Conference

BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College men's golf program has been accepted as an associate member of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur and NECC Commissioner Del Malloy announced on Friday. Babson's first season in the conference will be this coming fall.

Boasting a tremendous history, the Beavers' golf team won seven consecutive conference titles from 1997 to 2003 - one in the Constitution Athletic Conference and six more in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. However, Babson has been without a conference since the NEWMAC ceased its sponsorship of the sport after the 2003-04 season.

Now, Babson joins NECC members Becker College, Mitchell College, Daniel Webster College, Elms College, Newbury College, and fellow associate member Springfield College in its first official conference affiliation in six years. For the first time in their history, the Beavers will also be eligible for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which is awarded to the NECC Tournament champion. Babson has five NCAA Tournament appearances in its history - 1982, 1995, 2000, 2001, and 2002.
