Golf Comeback Falls Just Short At NECC Championships; Young Named Golfer Of The Year

FINAL RESULTS

LEICESTER, Mass.- The Babson College men's golf team made a valiant charge with a second-round low score of 305, but the Beavers fell just short of winning the 2010 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at the Leicester Country Club on Sunday. Elms College took home the league title with a two-round total of 619 - two strokes ahead of the Beavers' combined score of 621.

Although Babson came up short as a team, junior Joe Young (Westwood, Mass.) won the Beavers' second straight NECC Golfer of the Year award, as he carded a second-round 71 to finish first overall with a total score of 145. The victory also earned Young a spot on the All-Conference First Team.

Joining Young with All-League honors were seniors Bryan Eger (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Matt Foley (East Longmeadow, Mass.), who were each named to the All-NECC Second Team. Eger finished eighth overall with a score of 158, while Foley tied for ninth with a 160. Senior Eric Tidman (Holden, Mass.) just missed All-Conference status, finishing 11th with a score of 161, and junior Camilo Perlaza (Cali, Colombia) rounded out the lineup by placing 19th with a 169.
