• Young, Tryhane Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars

    After leading their team to the 2011 NECC Championship and the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament, Babson College golfers Joe Young (Westwood, Mass.) and Wesley Tryhane (Stamford, Conn.) have both named Cleveland Golf/Srixon Division III All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for their efforts this past year.

    The Babson College golf team finished up the program's eight-ever appearance a the NCAA Championships with a strong second round on the El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort on Wednesday, as the Beavers carded a team score of 328 to move up two spots to 38th place in the field of 41 Division III teams. As one of the 26 schools to miss the cut after day two of the four-day competition, Babson finishes with a final team score of 666.

    The Babson College Athletics Department held its 31st Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night where a total of eight individuals received honors. Two women’s basketball seniors, Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) and Nicole Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) were named co-winners of the Female Athlete of the Class, while men’s soccer senior Max Walker (Newton, Mass.) was named the Male Athlete of the Class.

    BROCKTON, Mass.—The Babson College men’s golf team shot a season-low nine-over par 289 to take a nine-shot lead after the first day of the 2011 NECC Golf Championship at D.W. Field Golf Club in Brockton this afternoon. Elms College is nine shots back after shooting a 298, and Springfield College at 304, is 15 shots back. A total of 13 players carded sub-80 rounds on a picture-perfect fall afternoon on the 6,042 yard, par 70 course.
