  • Page Named Babson's New Head Golf Coach

    Babson College Director of Athletics and Recreation Josh MacArthur recently announced that Jeff Page has been named the new head coach for the Beavers' golf program. A resident of nearby Needham and a 1980 graduate of Quinnipiac University, Page was promoted to head coach after spending the 2012-13 season as an assistant to former longtime coach Mike Vassalotti.
  • Golf Finishes 2012-13 Season With 11th-Place Showing at Johnson & Wales Spring Invitational

    The Babson College golf team closed out its 2012-13 season by tying for 11th place at the 2013 Johnson & Wales Wildcat Spring Invitational at the Cranston Country Cub over the weekend. The Beavers finished with a two-day team score of 675, thanks to an opening round 336 on Saturday and a closing round of 339 on Sunday.

    Senior captain Wesley Tryhane (Stamford, Conn.) fired a three-over par 75, finishing in a tie for fifth place, to help lead the Babson College golf team to an eighth-place finish at the rain-shortened Hampton Inn Classic at Allendale Country Club on Saturday.

    The Babson College golf team opened the spring portion of its 2012-13 season at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational this weekend. The Beavers finished 12th overall at the 36-hole event, which took place at Triggs Memorial Golf Course.
  • Golf Places Three on NECC's Academic All-Conference Team

    The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) recently announced its Fall 2012 Academic All-Conference selections, and three members of the Babson College men's golf team were recognized. Senior Paul Caso (Amherst, N.H.), junior Kyle Gietzen (Sarasota, Fla.), and sophomore Andrew Lepine (Litchfield, N.H.) were among the 18 total individuals that received the league's golfing honor, which requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or above.

  • Golf Finishes Sixth in Division III, 15th Overall at Rain-Shortened NEIGA Championships

    The Babson College golf team finished the fall portion of the 2012-13 season with a stellar performance at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships at the Captain's Course on Sunday. The Beavers finished 15th overall and sixth among Division III teams at the event, which was shortened to just one round after poor weather conditions from Hurricane Sandy forced the cancellation of Monday's final round.

    After the first round of the two-day Johnson & Wales Fall Invitational at the Cranston Country Club on Friday, the Babson Gollege golf team stood in eighth place overall. The Beavers' team score of 350 over the par-71 course place them one stroke behind seventh-place Anna Maria and 11 strokes behind two squads tied for fifth.

    LITCHFIELD, N.H.—First-year Vijay Vasandani (Cebu, Philippines) shot a two-over par 73 and senior Wesley Tryhane (Stamford, Conn.) backed him with a five-over par 76 as the Babson College men’s golf team is tied with Springfield College atop the leaderboard after the First Round of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship hosted by Passaconaway Country Club.

    Following an outstanding weekend showing at the Williams Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club in which they led the Babson golf team to its best finish of the young season, senior captain Wesley Tryhane (Stamford, Conn.) and first-year Vijay Vasandani (Cebu, Philippines) were each honored by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) on Monday. Tryhane was named NECC Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career, while Vasandani garnered his second consecutive NECC Rookie of the Week honor.

    The Babson College golf team secured its best finish of the 2012-13 season on Sunday, placing third overall at the 2012 Williams Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club. The Beavers followed up Saturday's opening round score of 298 with a second round of 304, giving them a two-day score of 602.

    The Babson College men's golf team posted a composite score of 324 on day two of the Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury to vault up two spots in the final standings. The Beavers finished the event in a tie with Manhattanville College for 18th place out of 25 total teams with a two-round total of 654.
  • Golf Finishes Ninth at Season-Opening Trinity Invitational

    The Babson College men's golf team opened its 2012-13 season at the Trinity Invitational this weekend, where the Beavers finished ninth out of 11 teams with a 27-hole team score of 493. Babson posted a 168 in their rain-shortened nine-hole round at the Tunxis Plantation Course in Farmington on Saturday and then shot a 325 in the second round at Blackledge Country Club in Hebron on Sunday.

    The Babson College men's golf team has been picked to finish second by opposing coaches in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) preseason poll. The Beavers, who have won the league championship twice in three seasons since becoming an associate member in 2009, return a pair of All-NECC selections from a 2011-12 squad that not only won the conference title but also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
