HEBRON, Conn. -- The Babson College men's golf team opened its 2012-13 season at the Trinity Invitational this weekend, where the Beavers finished ninth out of 11 teams with a 27-hole team score of 493. Babson posted a 168 in their rain-shortened nine-hole round at the Tunxis Plantation Course in Farmington on Saturday and then shot a 325 in the second round at Blackledge Country Club in Hebron on Sunday.
Leading the Beavers over the weekend was senior Paul Caso (Amherst, N.H.), who shot 41 on Saturday and 77 on Sunday for a 27-hole total of 118, placing him 19th overall. He was followed by first-year Chris Maguire (Waltham, Mass.) in 28th place with a 122 (39-83) and senior captain Wesley Tryhane (Stamford, Conn.) in 31st with a 123 (44-79). Rounding out Babson's lineup were sophomore Andrew Lepine (Litchfield, N.H.) in 55th with a 130 (44-86) and first-year Michael Han (East Granby, Conn.) in 66th with a 142 (49-93).
Babson returns to action next weekend with the two-day Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College. Saturday's first round begins at 1 p.m. while Sunday's final round will start at 9 a.m.
