NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Senior captain Wesley Tryhane (Stamford, Conn.) fired a three-over par 75, finishing in a tie for fifth place, to help lead the Babson College golf team to an eighth-place finish at the rain-shortened Hampton Inn Classic at Allendale Country Club on Saturday.
The Beavers posted a team score of 320, its lowest total since October 7, in the 18-hole event which was forced to cancel Friday's first round due to rain. Tournament hosts UMass-Dartmouth won the 20-team event with a team score of 305, finishing seven shots ahead of runner-up Nichols College.
Tryhane posted his third-lowest score of the season and junior Kenny Chong (North Bergen, N.J.) finished with a seven-over par 79 to finish in a tie for 18th place. First-year Chris McGuire (Waltham, Mass.) shot an eight-over par 80 and finished in a tie for 24th place while seniors Jed Drake (West Simsbury, Conn.) and Ryan Andrews (Portsmouth, R.I.) both posted their best scores of the season, finishing with an 86 and an 89, respectively.
Babson will be back in action on Thursday when they take part in the Western New England Invitational, and will wrap up its season at the Johnson & Wales Wildcat Invitational next Saturday and Sunday.
