Men's Golf In Sixth Place After Weather-Delayed First Round At Trinity Invitational

NEWINGTON, Conn.—Led by an even-par 72 from junior Vijay Vasandani (Cebu, Philippines), the Babson College men's golf team sits in sixth place after the opening round of the Bill Detrick Trinity College Invitational, which was completed on Sunday morning after inclement weather halted play on Saturday, at Indian Hill Country Club.

Vasandani was 4-over par through nine holes but shot a back-nine 32 to tie for second place, one shot off the lead of Worcester State University's Jackson Davis, who carded a 1-under par 71. Sophomore Bobby Quirk (East Greenwich, R.I.) and first-year Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) are tied for 36th place after both shooting 81, while senior Jay Ruvane (Buck Hill Falls, Pa.) is tied for 46th after firing an opening round 83 to help the Green and White post a team score of 317.

The host Bantams held an eight-shot lead over Worcester State after the completion of the first round, while the Beavers sit just four shots behind fourth-place Castleton State College and two shots back fifth-place Manhattanville College.

Babson started final round play on Sunday at 12 p.m.
