WESTFIELD, Mass.—Senior Jay Ruvane (Buck Hill Falls, Pa.) fired a 5-over par 76 and the Babson College men's golf team posted a score of 309 to finish second in a field of 14 teams at the Westfield State University Invitational at Tekoa Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Beavers, who shot their second-lowest score of the season, finished seven shots behind first-place Rhode Island College on the par 71, 6,438-yard track. Castleton State College shot 314 to finish third, the Westfield State "Blue" squad was fourth with a score of 316, and Roger Williams University rounded out the top five with a score of 325.
Ruvane, who carded the second-best score of his Babson career, tied for sixth place. Senior Andrew Lepine (Litchfield, N.H.) and first-year Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) both came in with rounds of 6-over par 77 to tie for ninth. Classmate Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine) finished with an 8-over par round of 79 to tie for 15th, while fellow first-year Pranav Mohan shot an 85 and tied for 39th.
Babson returns to action on Saturday with the first round of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at Stow Acres Country Club at 11 a.m.
