BERNARDSTON, Mass.—First-year Pranav Mohan (Freemont, Calif.) shot a 10-over par 82 and the Babson College men's golf team posted a team score of 338 to tie for 11th following the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship at the Crumpin-Fox Club on Saturday afternoon.
With four teams unable to finish due to darkness, Trinity College posted a team score of 306 and heads into Sunday's final round leading Williams College by nine shots and UMass-Dartmouth by 16 strokes. Elms College, which finished as the runner-up to the Beavers at last weekend's New England Collegiate Championship (NECC), is in 10th place, two strokes ahead of the Green and White and Western New England University.
Mohan, who is tied for 29th overall, was followed by first-year Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine), who led the team with 10 pars and finished with an opening-round 84. Junior Chris Maguire (Waltham, Mass.) carded a first-round 85, while first-year Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) and senior Andrew Lepine (Litchfield, N.H.) shot 87 and 88, respectively.
Babson will return to the Crumpin-Fox Club to start its final round at 10:42 a.m. on Sunday.
