BERNARDSTON, Mass.—The Babson College men's golf team cut 18 strokes off its first-round score, posting a final-round total of 324 to finish eighth with a 36-hole score of 662 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship on Sunday afternoon at the Crumpin-Fox Club.
Trinity College, which led by nine shots after the opening round, cruised to a 13-shot victory over Williams College, posting a 36-hole total of 622. UMass-Dartmouth came in third with a two-round total of 648, followed by 2013 champion Middlebury College in fourth with a two-day total of 651, and Salem State University and Endicott College, which tied for fifth with a two-round total of 657.
Beavers' first-year Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine), who made 10 pars on his way to a round of 84 on Saturday, fired a 6-over par 78 on Sunday to finish 21st with a 36-hole total of 162. Classmate Pranav Mohan (Fremont, Calif.) backed up his first-round 82 with an 81 in the final round to finish tied for 22nd at 163.
Junior Chris Maguire (Waltham, Mass.) shot a final-round 80, tying for 26th with a two-day total of 165. First-year Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) carded an 85 on Sunday, while senior Andrew Lepine (Litchfield, N.H.) posted an 88 for the second consecutive day.
Babson will wrap up its fall schedule at the NEIGA Championship hosted by the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass., on October 26-27.
