Men's Golf Finishes Eighth At Western New England Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Junior Vijay Vasandani (Cebu, Philippines) carded an 8-over par 80 as the Babson College men's golf team finished eighth out of 11 teams at the Western New England University Golden Bear Invitational on Thursday afternoon.

Western New England posted a team score of 308 to edge second-place Endicott College by five shots. Elms College finished with a total of 319 strokes to come in third, one shot clear of both the Golden Bears' "B" team and Salem State University. The Beavers' team score of 350 was their highest of the season by 12 shots.

Vasandani, who made one birdie and nine pars, finished in a tie for 14th place. Junior Chris Maguire (Waltham, Mass.) shot an 89 to tie for 37th place, while senior Jay Ruvane (Buck Hill Falls, Pa.) finished with a 90 to tie for 40th position. Senior Andrew Lepine (Litchfield, N.H.) posted a 91 to tie for 42nd overall.

Babson returns to action on Saturday at the first round of the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Spring Invitational at Cranston Country Club starting at 10 a.m.
