Men's Golf Tied for Seventh After First Round at Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—First-year Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) finished with a 3-over par round of 74 to help the Babson College men's golf team into a tie for seventh place after the opening round of the Duke Nelson Invitational at Ralph Myhre Golf Club on the campus of Middlebury College.

The Beavers ended the day with a team score of 309 and find themselves tied with Rensselaer, 13 strokes back of first-round leader Skidmore (296). The host Panthers are a shot back in second place, while Amherst is just six strokes back in third after posting a total of 302 on Saturday.

Bornhorst is tied for eighth overall and will begin his final round on Sunday four shots in back of Mackenzie Nelson of Skidmore, who sits at 1-under par. Sophomore Lukas Linemayr (Hampton, N.H.) fired a 77 and is tied for 25th position, while juniors Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) and Dan Young (Westwood, Mass.) both shot 79. Sophmore Benjamin Crawford (Houston, Texas) carded an 81 on day one.

The Beavers begin final round play at Middlebury on Sunday at 9 a.m.
