Men's Golf One Shot Back after First Round at Johnson & Wales Invitational

CRANSTON, R.I.—Junior Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine) and sophomore Lukas Linemayr (Hampton, N.H.) both shot 77 and the Babson College men's golf team sits in second place after the opening round of the Johnson & Wales Invitational at Cranston Country Club on Saturday.

The Beavers' team score of 310 has them just one shot behind Western New England after 18 holes. Rhode Island College (312) is just three shots back, while Tufts (315) and Endicott (320) round out the top five.

Alexander and Linemayr are both tied for seventh place at 6-over par just two shots off the lead, while sophomore Benjamin Crawford (Houston, Texas) and first-year Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) each shot 78 on Saturday and are tied for 12th position.

Sophomore Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) carded an opening round 80 and is tied for 23rd place.

Babson returns to the course on Sunday morning for the final round of the tournament.
