Men's Golf Finishes Second at Johnson & Wales Invitational, Captures Spring Series Title

CRANSTON, R.I.—Sophomore Lukas Linemayr (Hampton, N.H.) shot a 4-over 75 and tied for third overall as the Babson College men's golf team finished second at the Johnson & Wales Invitational on Sunday at Cranston Country Club.

The Beavers, who posted a final-round team score of 309, finished seven shots behind Western New England with a 36-hole total of 619. Tufts came in third at 622, while Rhode Island College (627) and the host Wildcats (636) rounded out the top five. In addition to Sunday's runner-up showing, the Green and White also took home the Spring Series championship, which encompasses results from the Rhode Island College Invitational, UMass Dartmouth Invitational and the Johnson & Wales Invitational.

Linemayr posted a two-day total of 10-over 152 to finish just two shots behind individual champion Owen Elliott of Tufts. Junior Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine) carded rounds of 77-78 to finish ninth at 13-over 155, while sophomore Benjamin Crawford (Houston, Texas) and first-year Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) both fired back-to-back rounds of 78 to tie for 10th position with a 36-hole total of 156.

Sophomore Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) also shot 78 on Sunday and tied for 20th position with a two-round total of 158 for the Beavers.

Babson wraps up its regular season on Monday when it competes at the Elms Invitational at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass. The Green and White tees off beginning at 10:50 a.m.
