Bornhorst Tied for Seventh Overall After Opening with 2-Over 73

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—Sophomore Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) opened with a 2-over par round of 73 to help the Babson College men's golf team into eighth place after day one at the Williams Invitational at Taconic Golf Club.

Coming off last weekend's win at Middlebury, the Beavers posted a first round team score of 311 and are 17 shots off the pace of first-place Trinity (294). The host Ephs are one shot back in second, while Middlebury is third at 299. The Green and White will begin Sunday's final round just seven strokes behind fourth-place St. John Fisher.

Bornhorst is five shots off the lead and tied for seventh overall, while first-year Lane Bohman (Chatham, Mass.) is tied for 19th position after firing a 6-over par 77 on Saturday. Junior Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) shot an 80, first-year Reed Wilson (Redlands, Calif.) carded an 81 and sophomore Martin Jensen (Bronxville, N.Y.) is a shot behind him after finishing with a first round 82.

Final round play at Taconic GC begins on Sunday at 9 a.m.

• Bornhorst's round of 73 was his best in three starts at Taconic, while Bohman, Whitham, Wilson and Jensen were all playing the course for the first time in their Babson careers.
• The Beavers have posted seven top-five finishes at the Williams Invitational, which includes a third-place result in 2012.
