Bohman Shoots 1-Under 71 to Help Beavers Take Three-Shot Lead
AMHERST, Mass.—First-year Lane Bohman (Chatham, Mass.) shot a 1-under par 71 to help the Babson College men's golf team take a three-shot lead after the opening round of the Blazer Invitational at Hickory Ridge Golf Club.
The Beavers posted a team score of 294, which is three shots ahead of Western New England and eight strokes better than third-place Rhode Island College. Westfield State (304) and Springfield (308) round out the top five after round one.
Bohman made three birdies and two bogeys to build a one-shot lead over Mike Metcalf of Western New England and Austin Ciley of Rhode Island College. Sophomore Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) and first-year Reed Wilson (Redlands, Calif.) both both finished at 2-over 74, while senior Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine) led all players with six birdies in the opening round and is tied for 15th place at 3-over 75.
Senior Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) made a pair of birdies and signed for an 8-over 80 on Sunday.
The tournament shifts to the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley on Monday with the Green and White set to begin play at 2:30 p.m.
