NORMAN, Okla.—Babson College sophomore Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) was named to the Division III Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA)/PING All-Northeast team for the second year in a row on Tuesday night.
Just the second back-to-back GCAA/PING all-region honoree in program history and first since Jared Myers '01 in 2000 and 2001, Bornhorst set a new single-season school record with a 73.40 stroke average in 20 competitive rounds. He finished at par or better seven times, won five events and posted eight top-10 results in 11 starts during the 2017-18 campaign.
The two-time New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Year, Bornhorst bettered his 2016-17 stroke average by nearly two shots to help the Beavers put together one of the best seasons in school history. He carded the first sub-70 round of his collegiate career to help the Green and White capture its fourth straight league title in the fall, and closed the year with three straight rounds under par, which includes a program-record-tying 67 on day two of the Tim Brown Invitational.
Through two seasons at Babson, Bornhorst owns a 74.34 stroke average in 42 career rounds.
The Beavers won six of their 11 events on the year, which includes victories at Middlebury's Duke Nelson Invitational back in September and Skidmore's Tim Brown Invitational in late April.
