FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—Six members of the Babson College men's golf program were recognized for their success in the classroom when the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) announced its 2018-19 Academic All-Conference selections on Wednesday.
Senior Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) earned the third academic all-conference award of his career, while juniors Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) and Ross Rabin (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.), sophomores Lane Bohman (Chatham, Mass.) and Reed Wilson (Redlands, Mass.), and first-year Burt Gesner (Severna Park, Md.) were all honored for the first time in their respective careers.
Whitham, who was twice named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference squad before the Beavers joined the CAC last July, competed in 58 career rounds and ranks seventh in program history with a 77.19 career stroke average. Bornhorst earned his third straight GCAA/PING All-Region award after finishing the season with a 74.63 average, while Rabin played in two tournaments and finished with an 81.33 scoring average in his first season with the program.
Bohman, who was one of three players to compete in every tournament for the Green and White, recorded two top-five and eight top-20 finishes on the way to posting a 75.79 scoring average. Wilson returned to play five rounds after missing much of the fall due to injury, while Gesner appeared in 15 of 19 competitive rounds and was one of three Babson players to earn CAC All-Conference honors at the league meet back in April.
All full-time student-athletes that have achieved at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average are eligible for the CAC Academic All-Conference team.
