Babson Opens Hintlian Family Golf Performance Center

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College athletics department recently opened the Aram Hintlian '74, MBA '75 Family Golf Performance Center as part of the $52 million Babson College Recreation and Athletics Complex (BRAC) facility enhancements project.

The performance center features a Foresight golf simulator that tracks data such as distance, spin, ball flight, ball speed, club and launch angle while playing a virtual course or on the range. The simulator will help players work on their skills in both competitive and casual settings, while also allowing them test their games on some of top courses in the world.

In addition to the simulator, the performance center had a putting and chipping area installed by Pro Putt Systems. The undulating synthetic turf green and surrounding chipping area measures 37 feet in length and is 18 feet wide, allowing players the opportunity to work on their short game year round.

"The golf performance center is a very thoughtful and generous gift from Aram and his family," commented Pamela P. and Brian M. Barefoot Director of Athletics and Athletics Advancement Mike Lynch. "It's with his generosity that we were able to make the indoor practice area for our golf team a reality. The simulator and indoor putting green afford our student-athletes the opportunity to hone their skills throughout the year and will only help to enhance the success of our program going forward."

Along with the simulator and putting and chipping areas, Babson worked with Marketechs of York, Pa., to brand the performance center. Along the wall there is a large photo of the 18th hole at Wellesley Country Club, which serves as the men's golf team's home course. A listing of the program's NCAA Tournament appearances and conference championships are also prominently featured.

"The combination of the simulator and the putting surface is something I've dreamed about for a long time," said head men's golf coach Jeff Page. " The simulator is a great tool for our players to use, and having a dedicated space allows us to practice during the offseason. The performance center is going to be a great plus for our current players and will help us continue to recruit top student-athletes."
