FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—Babson College sophomore Nicholas Gianelos (West Chester, Pa.) was selected as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday morning.
Gianelos finished under par in three of four rounds posting a 69.5 stroke average and recording a pair of top-10 finishes in two tournaments last week for Babson. He shot 68-72 to tie for seventh place with a 4-under total of 140 as Babson came in fourth at the Royal Lakes-Oglethorpe Invitational on October 7-8, and followed it up with rounds of 68-70 to finish second overall at the Saratoga National Invitational. His 36-hole total of 6-under 138 was the best of his collegiate career and helped the Beavers finish just one shot behind NYU in second place.
Gianelos is second on the team with a 71.9 stroke average in five tournaments this fall, and is currently 42nd in Golfstat's Division III individual rankings with an adjusted scoring average of 72.30.
Babson, which debuted at No. 17 in Golfstat's initial Division III team rankings of the season, returns to action on Sunday in the opening round of the 85th NEIGA Championship in Brewster, Mass.
