Hockey Extends Unbeaten Streak To Six With 4-1 Win At NEC

BOX SCORE

HENNIKER, N.H. - Babson College freshman forward PT Donato (Arlington, Mass.) netted two goals lifting the visiting Beavers past the New England College Pilgrims 4-1 in men's ice hockey action Friday evening.  With the win, the Beavers extend their unbeaten streak to six game (5-0-1) and improve to 11-7-2 overall and 8-5-1 in ECAC East/NESCAC play. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 8-10-2 on the season and 4-8-2 in the conference.

The two teams would battle through the opening period scoreless as Babson would hold the slight 11-8 advantage in shots on net.

NEC's Alex Muse (Lynnfield, Mass.) would break the scoring drought early in the second period as netted a power-play goal assisted by Jeff Armando (Canton, Mass.) and Mark Ehl (North Vancouver, B.C.) just 5:46 into the period.

Babson would respond as Donato took advantage of a Beaver power-play assisted by Ian Goodwin (Cooper City, Fla.) and Liam Chatterton (Staten Island, N.Y.) at the 10:44 mark.  The Beavers struck again just two minutes later as Terry Woods (Duxbury, Mass.) scored what would prove to be the game winner on a breakaway assisted by Shane Farrell (West Warwick, R.I.) and Colin Young (Dedham, Mass.).

Babson would extend their lead to 3-0 just over a minute into the third period as Donato pushed in a loose puck assisted by Mike McMahon (Wilmington, Mass.) and Farrell.  The Beavers would tack on a final score as Cody Carlson (Peterborough, N.H.) netted his fifth goal of the season at the 14:29 mark.

The Pilgrims finished the game with a 31-24 shot advantage, but Babson rookie Zeke Testa (Wellesley, Mass.) finished with 30 saves in another standout performance in net for the Beavers. In net for NEC was Aaron Harvey (Milford, Nova Scotia) who made 20 saves on the night.
